Bach Flower: Wild Rose

Wild Rose and Apathy

The Bach flower remedy Wild Rose, in its negative state, manifests itself in an attitude of apathy and dis-spiritedness. They are just resigned to their fate,
never believing that things could get better and so they just go with the flow, not in joy but with the feeling that there is no other option.

Physical

They are rather boring people, with no interest in anything that goes on around them. This makes them quite unpopular or it might make people
in a group ignore them, leaving them to their
apathy. Wild Rose gives them the energy to be able to take an interest in people and things and to be a part of what is going on around them.

Mental

Sometimes, a Wild Rose negative state could be temporary, when the energy flowing through the body is low, especially after an illness. It feels like they have reached the limit of what they can do and they settle into a state of non-doing. Wild Rose helps them to feel involved again.

Emotional

Emotionally, too, one needs to be very participative if one has to keep relationships going. These people are just not active enough and their passivity is often the reason for relationships going sour. It’s almost like they are in an emotional vacuum and have nothing to give to make love grow. Wild Rose may be needed over a long period of time to make the heart open up and love the way it should.

Spiritual

They are not seekers so how will they find? There is a kind of hopelessness when it comes to the soul and he does not try to make things better. Wild Rose makes him become more active in his spiritual life, urging him to look for answers inside his soul.

Loss of Muscle Tone, Heaviness in Arms / Legs

Loss of muscle tome and heaviness in the arms and legs are signs of either a vitamin B1 (thiamine) deficiency or amino acid needs.  For some people there is a compromise in the digestive system that prevents adequate digestion of protein. Hypochlorhydria and or pancreatic insufficiency will cause incomplete breakdown of protein, and prevent the release of amino acids from the proteins. Certain amino acids including Tryptophan, arginain, and lysine are very vulnerable to certain cooking methods e.g. high heat baking which destroys the basic structure of the amino acid, rendering them unusable by the body.

Feel Spacey or Unreal

This symptom can be due to many things: food allergies, low adrenal function, low thyroid function, or hypoglycemia. One to the main cause is dysbiosis, especially from Candida. An overgrowth of Candida can lead to an enormous amount of toxicity in the body, which can affect the brain causing a spacey, unreal like feeling. It as been shown that toxins with opioid like properties are often released by yeast and bacteria in the digestive system. These travel to the brain and cause symptoms of feeling spacey and unreal. People have often described it as being "out of the body". Working to eliminate the dysbiosis and support the lover can help decrease this symptom.

Other Indications
1. Adrenal and thyroid hypo function
2. Food allergies and hypoglycemia

Waking to Urinate at Night

The above symptoms are highly suggestive of prostatic problems. The prostate is a small gland that surrounds the urethra. Symptoms of urinary frequency, urgency, nocturia, hesitancy and intermittency with decreased size and force of the urinary stream with sensations of incomplete emptying, terminal dribbling, continuous overflow incontinence, or complete urinary retention are indicative of Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy or BPH. 50 - 60% of males between the ages of 40 - 59 years have BPH and by age 80, 90% of all males have BPD with 75% having prostate cancer according to biopsy.

BPH may be due to increased levels of di-hydro testosterone (DHT), which stimulates prostate growth. There are also prostaglandins, nutrient deficiencies and altered sex hormones as possible causes.

It is important to have the appropriate lab work on these clients to assess creatinine, PSA and Prostatatic Acid Phosphatase (PAP) levels.  It is also essential to have a digital rectal examination. This is to be considered as annual screening exam of men over 45, because prostate cancer is becoming an epidemic in this country.

With Prostatic problems need to make sure to rule out the following: sensitivity to dairy products, obese its, infrequent sexual activity, hereditary factors and lack of exercise.

Wheat or Grain Sensitivity

Wheat or grain sensitivity is suggestive of a gluten allergy or sensitivity. Even a mild sensitivity to wheat can cause the characteristic lesion of celiac disease: the shortening and flattening of the villi in the small intestine. This can lead to malabsorption, increases intestinal hyper-permeability and increased congestion with allergy like symptoms. If left untreated or unidentified a chronic alternation diarrhea and constipation can occur. Treatment involves following a gluten free diet and avoiding all sources of gluten.

Itchy Skin (Dermatitis) - Cysts, Boils, Rashes

Skin symptoms often have a root cause in allergies and immune deficiency. There are many different kinds of dermatitis and in general the integrity of the digestive system plays a big role in the development of skin symptoms. Another cause of skin symptoms is a diet that is deficient in nutrients and is full of processes ingredients.

It is also important to remember that the integument plays a large role in detoxification, especially when the usual routes of elimination (liver, kidneys, and digestive system) are not functioning well. Therefore, skin reactions should be seen as the body trying to eliminate. Supporting the liver, kidneys, and digestive system will help.

White of Eyes (Sclera) Blue Tinted

Blue tinte whites of the eyes are a fairly specific indicator of iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia is a common, though often over treated form of anemia. It is important to thoroughly assess you anemia by doing a follow-up blood studies.

Often a compromised digestive tract, with a tendency towards hypochlorhydria can cause a persistent anemia, because minerals and vitamins are not being absorbed properly due to the functional low HCL level in the stomach.

Sweat Has a Strong Odor

Sweat having a strong odor is a sign of need for liver or kidney support. It is also a sign of possible magnesium deficiency. The sweat glans are another excretory organ, and the more toxic the body, the more toxic the sweat is likely to be. With adequate live detoxification and kidney excretion, it is less likely that the sweat gland and the skin in general will act as a primary excretory organ.

Another possible cause is bowel toxemia. Bowel toxemia normally starts with the pre-existing hypo chlorhydria. Proteins that are not digested and broken down adequately in the stomach from the substrate for bacteria and yeast to proliferate, which produce excess amounts of toxic metabolites. The liver detoxifies toxins produced from the gut. If the liver is not functioning optimally or if the amount of toxin production overwhelms its metabolic capacities, the toxin can enter systemic circulation. The sweat serves a major excretory function and if the kidney or liver is dysfunctional the body will use the skin as a route of elimination. The toxic metabolites usually have a strong odor that can be smelt on the breath and the urine as well as in the sweat.

Crohn's Disease

Crohn's disease is a non-specific inflammatory disease that usually affect the terminal ileum of the small intestine. It is characterized by inflammatory lesions called granulomas, though about 40% of sufferers do not appear to have well developed lesions. The lesions may not be localized to just the small intestine. Lesions have been known to appear in the mouth, esophagus, stomach, jejunum, and colon.

Crohn's disease presents with chronic diarrhea and abdominal pain. The lesion itself is ulcerative in nature and causes chronic damage tot he lining of the intestines causing malabsorption, nutritional deficiencies and weight loss.

Bach Flower: Wild Oak

Wild Oat and Drifting

The Bach flower remedy Wild Oat in its positive state is full of purpose and fulfilment. In its negative state however, it is usually a person who is a rolling
stone, never quite settled or happy in any field or job, always wanting to move on. There is no fulfilment in his heart and he is the proverbial ‘jack of all trades’.

Physical

It begins right from the time they are young. They rarely are a part of a group or gang. They are the kind of people who are there but not there, as they
rarely actively take part with enthusiasm in  anything. They are the drifters of this world who don’t find anything that satisfies them and so they do what they do best – move on. Very often, the men have sexual problems and most of these people tend to eat too much. Wild Oat gives them a sense of balance and helps them to participate and find
satisfaction in the work they are doing.

Mental

They are very self-centered, though sometimes, you don’t notice because they are here, there and everywhere. The have no sense of direction but they rarely bother about how that is going to affect those around them. The constantly seek satisfaction through change, little realizing that satisfaction can be found by being content in what you do well. This is what Wild Oat helps them realize.

Emotional

Emotionally too, they are the rolling stones, not really worried about the hearts they break and leave behind. In all fairness, they probably do not mean to hurt. They just move on, not looking back, always hoping there’s a better love that’s waiting for them. Wild Oat helps them to value what they have and nurture it so that it becomes the best thing in their lives. It also makes them realize that today and not tomorrow is what is important.

Spiritual

Here, too, they could move from one belief to another, seeking for that perfection that does not exist. They do not feel too deeply about things and that makes them not very spiritual. To open one’s soul to let the sun shine in, one needs to stand and wait, not keep running off to try and find greener grass.

Afternoon Headache

An afternoon headache has many possible causes. It is important to rule out and correct any structural component and to assess how often this happens.  Many times afternoon headaches occurs only at work and are linked with poor ergonomics in the workplace and excess time at the computer screen without a break, which places tremendous strain on the eyes and upper back.  If these are ruled out consider hypofunctioning adrenal glands, hypo-functioning thyroid and reactive hypoglycemia.

Water, Distilled

The quality of municiple tap water is questionable. Recent reports have indicated that many municipal water authorities are in violation of clean water standards. Significant levels of organic and inorganic chemical such as pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers and lead have been found in musical water supplies. Unfortunately many of these pollutants are difficult to get rid of using the common purification methods that are in place in many areas of the country today.

Given the above information, a good quality water filtration system is a sound and healthy investment. Unfortunately, distilled water is not. distilled water may not remove all of the organic chemicals from the water, and it also removed all of the materials. Some practitioners believe that we should not consume distilled water, because it acts as a vacuum and require the body to use its own stores of minerals to balance it out. There are better methods of water filtration, which include reverse osmosis, charcoal filtering and deionization. These are all acceptable methods of water treatment.

Feel Worse in Moldy or Musty Place

Feeling worse in a moldy and musty places is a strong indication of a dysbiosis in the digestive tract with an overgrowth of yeast. The body can sometimes be so overburdened with yeast that even the least amount of toxic exposure can precipitate a bad reaction. The body may also need supplemental molybdenum, a trace mineral that acts as a co-factor for the liver’s detox pathways.

Bach Flower: Willow

Willow and Bitterness

The Bach flower remedy Willow in its negative state is filled with bitterness inside at the unjust deal that life has dealt. These people are constantly looking out at everyone and they feel frustrated when they see someone doing well, thinking that good things should be happening to them too. This puts them in a state of perpetual grumbling. Willow slowly edges out the bitterness and teaches them to be strong and make their own destiny – and to be happy doing it.

Physical

They usually are the wet blankets in any get together. You’ll find them looking out for someone or something to blame. Some however, smoulder
in silence and this is worse maybe because it causes serious health problems. High blood pressure, stiff muscles, allergies – a lot of them suffer needlessly because they just cannot accept their lives as is. Willow tends to help them ease up and take  responsibility for their own health and their own lives.

Mental

Their minds are constantly comparing and making themselves out to be the victims. This mentality makes them hate everything and everyone around them because what they see is what they would have liked to be. They always feel life has passed them by and they never take responsibility for this. They rail against other people, against God and against the fates. Willow helps them see how futile this is and with regular use, they learn to depend on themselves for their own fortune.

Emotional

Since they always feel that theirs is a life that is sad, they find it difficult to love or let themselves be loved. Till they learn to love themselves – and Willow helps in that – they find it very difficult to remain in good relationships.

Spiritual

They feel that any higher power should be kind to them and shower them with blessings. Anything that goes wrong, they need a scapegoat – and who better than the divine? The trouble is, nothing is ever right in their world – they always focus on what goes wrong. Willow helps them focus on their blessings – helps them count them and be grateful for what they have, thereby opening up their hearts, minds and spirits for more blessings to flow in.
